Russ Roberts and human nature

This is one of my most favorite interviews for Rare. Russ Roberts explores a work by Adam Smith ‘The Theory of All Sentiments’ in his new book “How Adam Smith Can Change Your Life: An Unexpected Guide to Human Nature and Happiness.”

Some describe Russ’ book as self-help but it’s about self awareness. The central theme of the book deals with Adam Smith’s ideas on Impartial Spectator. A special part of the conscience that has no stake in outcome therefor an honest (freedom from self-deception) look at ourselves as we really are.

Also, this book has inspired me to consider deeper the relationship between money and human nature  — that currency is a conduit for how people interact with each other. The importance of a natural money system becomes very clear by seeing how manipulated currency effects social interaction.

The biggest thing you can do to make libertarianism more appealing is to be a nice person
